Health Care for the Homeless works to prevent and end homelessness for vulnerable individuals and families by providing quality, integrated health care and promoting access to affordable housing and sustainable incomes through direct service, advocacy, and community engagement.
Impact: These projects build the capacity of our staff to deliver care to our nearly 10,000 patients experiencing homelessness. The project supports the building of relationships between staff and clients as we work to address individual’s health needs. We believe the Baltimore community is stronger when the most vulnerable among us are supported in their journey towards more stable, secure, and healthy lives.
Project Availability:
Volunteer Responsibilities: Prepare drawstring backpacks, Ziploc bags or backpack with some or all items such as: New socks, Rain poncho, Reusable water bottle, Energy bars/trail mix/dried fruit, Gift card for food (Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald’s sell $5 cards), Toothbrush & toothpaste, Bar soap in a durable plastic bag, Body lotion, Wet wipes, Hand sanitizer, Comb, Feminine products, In winter: hat, gloves, scarf, hand warmers, A note from you—this means a lot!
Attire: Close toe shoes required
