Since over 80% of students are on the free or reduced lunch program, many families struggle to meet the basic needs of their children. This project fills over 4,000 students’ school supply needs.
Project Availability:
Volunteer Responsibilities: Volunteers assist with collecting donated items, retrieving items from different locations, shopping for some of the supplies, assist in arranging the supplies per campus, assist in distributing to a campus representative when they arrive to pick up.
Attire: Varies depending on what the volunteers will be doing, but casual is usually appropriate.
F&B Provided for Volunteers: Yes
Option to Move Project to a Different Location: A supplies drive/collection site would be most easily accommodated at the meeting/convention venue. There are other cost factors that needed to be added if the Supplies for Success committee decided to go to another location including but not limited to: security officers, storage & sorting site requirements that volunteers can access for 5 working consecutive working days, building support staff, nursing assistants, tables, chairs, & screens to block donation area from public). Proximity to low income neighborhoods would be key for families.
