At Habitat for Humanity of the Coachella Valley, HOPE is not a dream but a way of making dreams become reality. That is why Habitat volunteers, supporters and partner families are working together to build, renovate and repair houses. Their work strengthens families, cultivates better communities, healthier children and more successful students.
Impact: Habitat for Humanity's partner families are all Coachella Valley residents whose income is so low they cannot qualify for conventional financing. They are selected through extensive interviews by our Board of Directors and are representative of the Valley's ethnically diverse population. Living in poverty or substandard housing, these families often pay more than 50% of their income towards rent for run down, unsafe dwellings. Habitat for Humanity offers them the opportunity to obtain decent housing, often for the first time in their lives.
