Service Opportunities: Single volunteer opportunities include assist clients with laundry, assist clients into moving their new homes, assisting in the food pantry, or assisting the chef in the kitchen. Group volunteer opportunities include assembling care packages for newly-housed clients or children new to shelter, helping out in the kitchen, cleaning up or organizing one area of our building, doing maintenance in our gardens, hosting a dinner, party, or other activity for clients, and offering professional services to our clients at our location free of charge. There are also opportunities to donate funds and in-kind items.

Crossroads RI is the largest homeless services organization in Rhode Island, and their main mission is to help homeless or at-risk individuals and families secure stable homes. They provide services like housing, basic needs, shelter, case management, referrals, and education and employment services.
Impact: Crossroads has the goal to end homelessness in Rhode Island. This means making the experience of homelessness as temporary as possible by helping families and individuals secure stable homes quickly. They rely on the generosity of neighbors and corporate partners to help in their work of ending homelessness. There are many ways for individuals and groups to make a difference in the lives of families and individuals experiencing homelessness.
Project Availability:
Volunteer Responsibilities: For those assisting with client laundry, volunteers need to escort clients to the laundry room and ensure clients know how to use the machines. For those assisting clients to move into new homes, volunteers would have to lift and carry/move possibly heavy items and boxes. For those in the food pantry/kitchen, volunteers will help organizing new pantry goods and donations as they come in, and prepare them for distribution to our clients, as well as assist the chef with food preparation and distribution in the kitchen. Prior food experience is welcomed.
