United Way Stone Soup

At the event, meals are assembled with ingredients (assigned by United Way about a week beforehand) provided by volunteers. Groups gather at one of several “recipe tables” and once the whistle is blown, each table prepares about five batches of the recipe in 15 minutes. When all groups have finished, they clean up, move to the next table and start again until all groups have made each recipe.

Meals on Wheels of Central MD

Meals on Wheels of Central MD enables people to live independently through the provision of nutritious meals, personal contact, and human services. Volunteer groups (up to 10 max.) can volunteer in the Main Office kitchen at 515 S. Haven St. Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 10:00pm where they volunteer “on the Meals on Wheels of Central MD enables people to live independently through the provision of nutritious meals, personal contact, and human services. Volunteer groups (up to 10 max) can volunteer in the Main Office at 515 S. Haven St. Monday through Saturday (various times) where they volunteer to pack our home delivered meals. Group meal packing is a fun, active volunteer opportunity that is great for team building. Specific dates are first come, first serve and the group should call about a month in advance. Groups larger than ten can help MOWCM by collecting shelf-stable foods so that clients who have no extra food in their homes have extra items in their pantries. Financial donations are also appreciated, and examples of past fundraisers hosted by groups include chili cook-offs, Jean Days, and discount shopping days. Finally, groups can do “Special projects,” where they make a craft to give to the clients such as cards, flower arrangements, or gift bags.

Living Classrooms Foundation

Living Classrooms Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to strengthen communities and inspire young people to achieve their potential through hands-on education and job training, using urban, natural, and maritime resources as “living classrooms.” We operate a wide variety of education, workforce development, and community development programs. We focus on hands-on education to engage students in learning, while also aiming to provide services for the whole family to disrupt the cycle of poverty. In addition, many of our programs connect to Baltimore’s maritime heritage and we operate several sites directly on the waterfront.

Clean the World

The Clean the World Hygiene Kit Program is a mobile team building and community engagement activity that can be sent to any hotel, company event or conference in North America. It allows meeting professionals & event planners to eliminate the logistics of taking small or large groups out of their hotels and events to serve the local community. Clean the World provides all of the materials so that attendees can build hygiene kits and donate them to a local mission that needs them. Standard, hygiene kits contain soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, washcloth, and an inspirational card. Clean the World offers children’s kits, too, and is launching a veterans kit. Clean the World also provides a Best Practices Guide, instruction cards for each station, and a dedicated hygiene kit manager to assist with logistics such as shipping, charity matching and more. Over 1.1 million hygiene kits have been built and distributed in the United States – Clean the World welcomes your group’s assistance to get these valuable products into the hands of people who need them.
